In order to successfully conceive you first need to put in the groundwork to get pregnant. It may seem pretty simple and fun at first, but difficulty conceiving can be very frustrating. There are also heartbreaking moments when it comes to TTC (Trying To Conceive) – you may get several positive symptoms indicating you are pregnant; but the pregnancy test comes back negative.
I will share with you some tips that will help you to get pregnant fast and successfully!
Tips For Getting Pregnant
One of the best things you can do to increase your chances of conception is to know your ovulation days or most fertile days. Monitoring your menstrual cycles so you know exactly when you are most fertile, means you can plan with your partner and try for that night.
During your ‘non-fertile’ days ask your partner to refrain from any sexual activities as every ‘release’ will only lower his sperm count, thus affecting your chances even more (source: BabyMed).
If you’ve been using birth control pills as a contraceptive, you must stop taking them. It usually takes a few days for the pills’ effects to stop, and about 2 months for your body to go back to normal. However, if your birth control pills contain a chemical known as progesterone, they can take up to nine months before the effects completely wear off (source: MedicineNet).
How To Increase Your Chances of Conception
- If you’re a man who enjoys hot tubs, then you may need to cut these down. High temperatures of water in hot tubs are bad for your testicles, and can lower your sperm count as a result. Every single time you enter the hot tub, you would have to wait at least 2 to 3 weeks before your sperm will replenish itself entirely.
- Stop smoking. Smoking and nicotine have been known to cause infertility problems that leave you with damaged sperm or lower sperm count. It is reported that even if the damaged sperm manages to fertilize with the egg, there’s a low chance of the embryo surviving (source: WebMD). Even quitting smoking temporarily with nicotine patches and gum can even increase your conception chances.
- If you are using any lubricant in the bedroom you might want to check its content. Most lubricants contain spermicide or other harmful ingredients that can damage the mobility of sperm. Instead, try to find an all-natural lubricant to satisfy your needs.
- For men: you might want to throw away your briefs and start wearing boxers underwear instead. Studies have indicated that briefs put too much pressure on the scrotum, which can cause infertility issues. The more room you have down there, the better chance you have of a successful conception.
Obesity is a major factor when dealing with infertility and pregnancy issues. If you are obese and trying to get pregnant, then the best way to do so is to first lose weight. By losing weight you can increase your odds of conception tremendously (source: About).
Do not be afraid to spice up the bedroom! Stay fresh and positive when it comes to sex. You could also try taking prenatal vitamins, such as folic acid. These vitamins are perfect for increasing the odds of conception.
