As much as I visit my doctor, and with all of the things he is responsible for; when you get right down to it my weight loss and overall health is down to me and the way I live my life. I have carried some weight for most of my life and never really considered what the future could hold for me if I did not get my weight down to a more reasonable level. How healthy is healthy and why should I struggle so hard against the silent enemy constantly tugging on me?
I have found that, as I age, that weight is much harder to lose and it is also much harder to carry. Your metabolism gradually drops as you age every year. The health benefits from just dropping 10 percent of your body weight are dramatic and to be frank not that difficult to achieve. If you are like me, most of your trouble is after work; snacking on delicious treats that I bought – knowing good and well that they did not belong in my home.
What can ten percent really do for you? Try reversing diabetes or maybe the prevention of getting this disease altogether. The list doesn’t stop there. Blood pressure medicines that make you feel bad and even contribute to erectile dysfunction can also be taken off of your daily list of pills. Cholesterol is another ugly time bomb that we can do away with and yes ten percent can have a big part in reducing it too. Sleep apnea and other sleeping disorders can be helped or even cured with just a little weight loss.
The biggest one, I guess, is cancer. Studies show a 60 percent drop in the rate of cancer when people lose just a little weight. More like 80 percent for heart disease and a massive 90 percent for type 2 diabetes. Not to mention all the psychological benefits that come from less weight dragging you down. When we feel better, we naturally live better lives.
Feet ankle and leg problems make it hard to do many of the things we like to do most, and as we age it only gets worse. Sex is not as enjoyable or as easy to perform with all the extra weight blocking the positions. I remember from my youth, Disney Land becomes dizzy land when you have to carry Goofy, Mickey and Minnie, around in your hip pockets.
With the latest studies showing that Americans are 60 percent over weight on average, it must be high time to overcome this debilitating disease. There are a few easy steps we can follow to change this and I personally tried and experienced good results with this program. Here are a few things we can try that make sense and aren’t too hard to start with.
Tips To Increase Metabolism Easily
- Carrots for cookies.
- Green tea for soft drinks.
- Plain popcorn for heavily buttered popcorn.
- Black coffee for the latte.
- Short walk for boredom eating.
- Grapes for candy.
Things like nuts for a snack at work will add protein and actually increase the metabolic rate at which your body burns calories. A heavy protein diet can also achieve this result. The mainstay of this is not to really diet so much but replace good foods that will help us for the bad ones that do nothing but harm. Exercise has got to fall into our list somewhere, so let us talk about it here. I know muscle burns fat, so doing a little work with the weights has to help out in weight loss. With all the health benefits for just a small change it is reasonable to make small changes to start and expect big changes in our personal health.
You could also consider trying the Paleolithic Diet. Also known as the Caveman diet, the paleo diet has numerous health benefits (from weight loss to curing diseases). The only issue is finding delicious and easy-to-cook recipes. The Paleohacks Cookbook has that covered and it also provides much more information on the Paleolithic Diet.
